Tomorrow, the morning of Thursday, September 8th, IGN will be publishing its extensive and exclusive interview with Sony Bend
Studio heads John Garvin and Chris Reese. These guys are hard at work
on Uncharted: Golden Abyss, the most eagerly anticipated PlayStation
Vita game currently in development.
Our interview covers all of the bases, from when Bend Studio was known as Eidetic and developing the Syphon Filter franchise on PlayStation, right through to today as the Oregon-based production house works on Uncharted: Golden Abyss. But there are so many interesting tidbits we're excited to share with you tomorrow that we thought we'd give you a bit of a teaser today.
Bend Studio developed seven consecutive Syphon Filter games before finally getting to work on something else. That something else was Resistance: Retribution on the PSP, which launched in 2009. But did you know that Bend tried to develop another Resistance game on PSP that never got past the demo phase? "I had spent like six weeks writing up a complete outline and we had a demo for a [Resistance: Retribution] sequel and then that kind of never got off the ground..." Bend's John Garvin told us.
Check out IGN.com tomorrow for more on Sony Bend, including more Resistance talk, information about pre-PlayStation development, the studio's first proper game (Bubsy 3D), the future of the Syphon Filter franchise, and of course, plenty of details about the development of Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
